Who knows about cars?

06 Chevy Cobalt LS? Well my car stalls a lot mostly when i pull up to a red light, stop sign, etc. It idles really hard the dash board lights dim then get brighter. now my gas gauge keeps going up and down. after i filled up my tank last night on the way home it said “Low Fuel” If you know what it might be how much do you think it would cost to fix it? please help thanks!

ok, im an english mechanic so i dont really know much about american cars but… the lights on the dash are powered by the battery so if the fuel guage is digitally operated then it could very well be your battery is nearly on its way out (going flat) which in turn (depending on how old the car is) could mean there is a fault with the alternater (the alternater is supposed to charge the battery as you drive). if the fuel tank isnt digitally operated then there is probably also a fault with the tank sensor. either way, your better off taking it to your local mechanic and he will diagnose the problem(s).

its it idling high my 1st guess would be the stepper motor is broke/faulty.. for the rest have a look at the above answer

Its a Cobalt, and its an ‘06. If there is an issue with it then it most likely a computer problem. But with it acting the way it does with fuel, i would guess that it is the sending unit it the tank or the fuel pump itself. Have your fuel pressure checked.
