Can you get your money back? Or take to court

Can you take someone to court and get your money back for selling you a sick puppy you had for 24hours?? .. And a whole weeks of vet bills.. Than it dies because of parvo?

Answer #1

I’m not sure how far it will go though, was there any guarantee on the puppy… have you talked to the breeder about it… they may replace the puppy or give your money back… if they wont definetley get the police involved.

Answer #2

Yes you can take them to court - although you need to realize how much lawyer bills cost and in the end - you would probley lose more money than you would get.

You don’t call the police, you call Animal control or the Dog warden. Find out if you have a puppy lemon law in your state, In Pa it was 40 days and proof of vet care. I got my money back for a sick chihuahua I had back in 2006. And you may be able to file charges with police (at no charge) but that ball will be dropped quickly. Also you must read up on Parvo, it does happen, the mother dog my not have been vaccinated and picked the virus up out side from a infected dog. Or her own family could have walked in infected feces somewhere and brought it home, or a sick dog was in her house, This is not a gestational sickness, they can pick it up. this will be a hard battle to win. I am truly sorry you lost your dog, Like I said your family made all the right choices and I hate to say this but now it will make you a better puppy shopper in the future.

I’ve got the lady address, and she gona be havin more pup in march!!! it said on the websitee!!

Answer #5

You’re in the UK, so the laws are different than here in the states…Here in the states it would be in small claims court, and wouldn’t require an attorney…

When you got this pup, did they provide a contract and a health certificate?? Anything they gave you will help your case. No reputable breeder would have a dam who was not vacinated. And since it was less that 24 hours after you got the pup, that he started showing definate signs that he was ill, it’s pretty likely he had Parvo before you picked him up.

Do what you can about finding other buyers of pups from this litter. Parvo rarely attacks one puppy…
