Who knows what the Church Of Scientology is?
and do you know what they believe?
and finally, are you apart of the church? (are you a Scientologist)
Well at least it is logical, and does not depend upon the presumption of unsupportable supernatural events. Read the book "Dianetics" it outlines Hubbard's beliefs and gives a decent overview of Scientology. Remember a cult is any religion that differs from the one issuing labels. Roman pantheism had a cult for each "god" The Catholic church, when first created by the Emperor of Rome, was a "cult" so was "protestantism" and "Quakers" and "Bahai". etc..etc...remember a heretic is anyone who disagrees with YOUR version of "GOD". At least Scientology is ethically based, and does not engage or support polygamy, drug use, hypnosis, coercion, or big government. It won't hurt you to read the book...it is not going to"make you" become a Scientologist, but it is better to judge from the perspective of knowledge, than from ignorance. and no, I am not a Scientologist, but I have read some of the books, and know a few Scientologists and they are not a bunch of loonies...actually they are regular very well adjusted folks.
The Church of Scientology was created by a man named L. Ron Hubbard back in the 50's. He was a science fiction writer, who just a few short years before the introduction of Scientology was quoted as saying something to the effect of "If you want to become rich, create a religion." For some odd reason, with this information (as well as the obvious science fiction overtones of the religion) people have still picked up on it. How did he make money off of inventing a religion? He charged people to join. In order to attain a higher "rank" within the church, you must "purchase" the rank. This is why people like Tom Cruise can be so high up the food chain, while random idiots never attain his status in the church.
ridgerunner: "it is logical, and does not depend upon the presumption of unsupportable supernatural events".
Please point me to independent, verifiable evidence that an alien being called 'Xenu' shipped billions of people to earth, stacked them up like cordwood around a volcano, then blew it up with a nuclear weapon.
'Independent' means "not the writings of scientology", by the way.
"At least Scientology is ethically based, and does not engage or support polygamy, drug use, hypnosis, coercion, or big government. "
For an idea of how "ethically based" scientology is, try reading about "Operation Freakout", the death of Lisa McPherson, and scientology's "Fair Game" policy.
Why Yes... yes It is
forgot to post this on my main question
