budgeting.....where to start after the xmas spending?

I have spent a lot of money this xmas, more than I usually would, on myself and on other people. and I like being able to spend money and not really think about it, I say to myself I will put the money back in the bank after xmas, but I am scared I wont. I cant afford not to as the money is for an operation and I dont know when I am going to be called for it. I am supposed to have £1800 for the operation…. and I have about £1000, and I earn about £160 a month, I am at college and am 18. I dont know where to start, I suppose the easiest thing to do would be to just put all my wages into the bank but I want to be able to live too. do you suggest I put half in? £20 pounds? what would you do?

thanks for reading this and for your help in advance!

You definitely want to budget your money, and make sure that you don’t over extend yourself during the holidays.

Put whatever you can into the bank, ideally - even if it’s a tiny amount - a regular dollar figure in the savings account as well. That way if you really need a few extra (dollars or quid I suppose, in the UK) then you’ll have enough money to tackle the unusual circumstance.

Best of luck to you.
