buddy's update. :]

I think hes progressing really well. He doesn’t have dieriah any moar. :D he’s walking. just a bit sore still. but her did get hit by a car, and he’s a small breed of dog. :] He looks at me now. and its not such an ‘undead’ look. and whoever said I need to call the popo needs to goto hell. e-o;; we cant afford a vet. ANYWAY. how do I get my mom’s puppy to stop jumping on him? D:< he’s pissing me off making my dog hurt moar then he already does. I tried poping his nose when he does it, but it didnt stop him.

Answer #1

Pop the nose harder? It’s kinda hard controlling instinct when it’s not yours and you don’t want to hurt it.

Answer #2

You didn’t explain in your last question that you could not afford to go to the vet. You stated that your dad ran over the dog and then refused to take it to the vet. There is a GREAT difference between the two statements. I would NEVER have said to call the police, IF I had known the actual reason for your dad not going to the vet. Grow up and learn to CORRECTLY state the problem before you tell someone to go to hell. YOU made it sound as if your dad was too mean to take him to the vet. Shame on you. And if you don’t have the money for a vet, your local SPCA or Humane Society usually know of vets that would treat an emergency for free! I could have given you that number, if you had just said that you couldn’t afford the vet. Also, please don’t hit the other puppy. He is just being friendly and doesn’t understand. Do like Phrannie said and use a leash or remove him to another room to be quiet.

Answer #3

There are other ways to train a dog and I, for one, don’t believe in ever hitting or popping a dog’s nose to teach them. I have worked with animal groups for many, many years and all good trainers use different means to train. There is NEVER a reason to hit or “pop” your dog on the nose.

Answer #4

never hit your dog . I know some will suggest a slight tap but its a diffent no . seperate the dogs and reward the other for doing so . maybe a friend or someone can help w/ the other dog but whatever you do please dont hit the other dog . it is a sign of agression by you and could make the other dog turn around and start being agressive . if you must touch the other dog you can flip him over and w/ hand under the two front legs a little pressure and a firm no until he relaxes all 4 will help him to see when you say no about the other dog you mean bussiness in a non threatening violent way . he will get the point if you are consistant .

Answer #5

Put a LEASH on the puppy…and when he goes towards your hurt dog, jerk the leash, and say “LEAVE HIM”…It’s your job to protect the injured dog…and the puppy doesn’t understand, so leave the leash on him, so you can step on it, or pull him away…saying “LEAVE HIM”…you’re going to have to do this till your hurt dog is well…so accept that responsibility…okie dokie??

Answer #6

Don’t hit the dog; that won’t help. Instead, separate them or reward the dog for being good and leaving the sick dog alone.

Answer #7

Put them in separate areas for now.

Answer #8

I dont hit him though. :| I pop him, theres a differance. a pop dosent hurt the dog, it just corrects them.

< and he didnt tell me until today. :||
