I just now broke a tooth. A quarter of a back molar is gone - swallowed actually. I called up and left a message for my dentist, but it will probably be tues. before I can go in. There is no pain. Is there anything I should do in the meantime?
If you get a broken tooth, or if a filling falls out, GET IT TAKEN CARE OF by a dentist. Not an emergency, but any break or lost filling lets caries (fancy name for tooth decay) get a fast aggressive start. Within a month you will have a large cavity. In several months you can loose the tooth. The exterior of the tooth is the hardest part, and if that is missing it is bad news. I spent over $3000 on 2 teeth because I didn't take care of a small ($50 ??) problem.
I broke it while eating vegetable chips. I'm sure that was coincidental.
thedude, I've had 2 root canals, both a result of not taking care of a small problem right away ... sort of like life itself. That's one reason I'm going to have this taken care of a.s.a.p.
Root canals are almost as much fun as a kick in the nads, not to mention expensive.
Thank you for the support.
Well first I'm... Acctully.. Well I also broke my molar (front)a cupple of weeks ago I got my filling (witch you should get)and the filling came out (when I was eating pizza. If this happen to you just bite on a towel (on your molar).

Ugh, no idea what to do about it, but sorry to hear you lost part of a tooth. I had a root canal and found out at the dentist that I was missing a chunk of molar, whether from decay or not, the dentist couldn't really say.
leave it its fine it wont harm anything i broke my tooth and when i got it fixed it broke again so just leave it
Grin & bear it. And start eating some of God's Food. Not man made chips!
