How do they remove small pieces of bone from baby toe?

Broke baby toe 3 mnths. Ago. A small piece of the bone healed to the outside of toe. It is very painful, can’t wear any kind of shoe except my ortho flip flops. Saw doc yesterday and he said he will have to do surgery to remove that piece of bone sticking out. Just curious what that will intail can you help answer that for me. I was told by doc it won’t be that bad but his nurse told me otherwise. Not sure what to do but know that I can’t walk for long and can’t wear any kind of shoe period!

Well I’m thinking that if it’s like coming out of the skin then they will put you to sleep then they will cut a small incision around it the pull off the bone. If it’s still inside skin then they will probably put you to sleep then cut hole where the bone is then remove the bone. I;m not sure because I’m not a dr but that’s how they most likely will do it!!!
