How can I get the blue stain out of my puppy's hair?

Even all the supervision in the world couldn’t prevent this…my cat snagged an SOS pad from the kitchen sink and gave it to my 7 week old puppy to chew up. Of course, she didn’t have it for very long before I noticed, but it was long enough to make her turn blue. I’ve washed her down, but she’s still stained blue. It’s very noticeable because she’s a white dog. Anyone have any tips or tricks for that? lol

Answer #1

Try brushing her fur with a brush made to remove the dog’s undercoat. Then, wash her using a whitening shampoo for pets. It’s made to bring white fur back to it’s original white color.

You should be able to find both of these products at any pet supply store.

WHY have I not seen a photo of this seemingly adorable puppy??!! Haha. What you can try, though, is dishwashing liquid. I recommend it to my clients if their colour has come out too dark because it really opens the cuticles in the hair strands and gets right in there to absolutely suck out any colour work. What kind of dog is this? If it’s a dog like a maltese that has hair as opposed to fur it should work well but if it is fur, it may not give the best results. Put puppy in the bath, get her/him wet and emulsify some good dishwashing liquid on the blue bits (has to be good quality, the cheap ones lack the ingredients needed). Make sure you really rub it into the fur for like 2-3 good minutes. Wash it out, and do it again as many times as needed (could be up to 5-6 times, but if after the 3rd time, nothing is happening, it’s won’t be working… oh also be careful not to get it in puppy’s eyes!!) After that, wash puppy like normal with dog shampoo to get the remnants of dishwashing liquid out of the fur (the dog shampoo will wash any chemicals out), then finish with dog conditioner (the dishwashing liquid will make doggy’s hair really coarse).

hope this works! It shouldn’t be a problem for the dog’s health as dogs don’t lick themselves as much as cats. You should probably do a tester spot before washing him/her just to make sure he/she isn’t allergic.

- Btw, for anyone wondering, this works on hair if your colour has come out too dark. Wash about 8 times with expensive kind dishwashing liquid, your hair will feel like absolute crap but it’s alright, maybe leave the conditioner in over night for a deep conditioning treatment.

Thanks Renee …the blue is almost out now, but I’ll file this tip for future reference :) …oh, and the reason I haven’t posted any photos of her is because “adorable puppy” chewed up my USB cable to connect my camera to the pc (I’m doing some shopping this week, lol)

Answer #8

Hahaha aw how cuuute NOT lol! See if you can find a second hand usb cable on ebay or something that will fit your camera. I bet it will cost you an arm and a leg to buy a new one. I’m so lucky with our puppy that she has never actually figured out that she can chew things haha!
