How can I find animal shelters, pounds, etc... where I can get a puppy from in my area?

I want to get a puppy, but I have no idea where I can get one. I’ve been to one animal shelter, but they only had 4 dogs, and they were all huge. I am looking for a small puppy.

I’ve looked in the phone book, but I can’t find anything. :/

How can I find places to get a puppy? :(

just put in what type of pet, your zip code, breed/age/size of the animal you want… it’s pretty cool

I’d suggest googling dog rescues in your area or checking a site like Kijiji. Dog rescues have more adult dogs than puppies, so do pounds. If you are looking to buy a particular breed, try googling the American Kennel Club. They should have a list of breeders.

I went to the Humane Society. You should really look and see if there’s one near you-all the animals are rescued and really need a home.
