Why do birds sometimes stand on one leg?

I sometimes see birds stood there on just one leg and always wonder why. How come they do it? Does it have anything to do with balance? Maybe they only have one leg haha…..

Answer #1

Nope, they pull the other foot up and warm it in their feathers. Then, after a while they switch.

Answer #2

Alot of scavenger birds use the ‘one legged’ technique to make passers by feel sorry for them, possibly ending in the people giving them food. Other birds may only have one leg, or may be warming their legs in their feathers.

Answer #3

Answer #4
