Why am I binge eating all the time now?

basically I’ve been trying to recover from anorexia, I’m eating breakfast lunch and dinner, but when I get home from school I literally want to eat everything in my house (and I’ll bet I come close sometimes…). I’m just wondering why I’m doing this! Like is it normal? I’m so worried that I’m going to get BED, or that I already have it, or something. It just makes me feel so gross :| I’ve been trying to recover for about 9 days and LITERALLY EVERYDAY since I started, I binge. Does anyone know why? :| I’m scared I’m gonna become obese or something if I keep this up but I can’t stop.

Actually I am, and was, going through the exact same thing for about 2-3 years now. I was going through anorexia a while back, doctors were threatening to hospitalize me if I continued to get worst and stuff. For about two years now, I’ve been trying to get better, but like you, I would binge, feel bad, and then starve myself, it’s a never-ending cycle but slowly, I’m freaking out less, getting better and gaining weight.

The reason we binge, is that it’s like your body’s natural survival mechanism after starving yourself. Just know, your body is trying to get better after being starved for such a long time. The binging will get better as you become more healthy. Just try to plan out your meals a bit more for now and try not to freak out like I do, it’s hard, I definitely know, but controllable and doable.

Great answer from Janice. Connor, during your time of healing, when your body feels the urge to binge, the important thing is to eat only good, healthful foods, not the kind of junk that is so sadly typical of our culture and so much easier to get, prepare quckly, and wolf down.

For a person of normal weight, I’d say yes, in moderation, but not so good if you’re eating it out of the jar with a spoon (or fingers) - like I used to do, lol. For you, given your situation, a few spoonfuls a day until you’re approaching normal weight probably won’t hurt. But that’s just my educated guess; I’m not an expert.

Can you describe what you typically eat for breakfast and lunch, and at what times? And the same for your binges?
