Betta is spitting out food???

I just got a betta yesterday. The place I bought him from said it was okay to feed him tetramin because the other fish I have in his tank eats it too and it worked well as a combination food. Is my fish picky or just playing with his food?

Where did you buy it from because it could be junk and bettas are very picky with what they eat all ways get food that says for bettas and it depends on the betta too.

my daughter has a fighter fish and we use hikari tropical fish food.its about 5dollars and only giv bout4pellets a day.

I got special food for my beta and he did that for a while too..but now he’s fine, so id say stick with the food you have and see if the fish gets used to it

My Bettas spit out the food I gave them but they eat it again. They are just not used to it. Don’t worry, the bettas will eat it soon! Hint: If they don’t eat it in 5 minutes, throw it away and try again.

Some fish like to spit out their food and suck it back in, for some reason. Don’t ask me why, but Bettas aren’t the only fish who do it.
