Answer #1

For various reasons, people tend to believe what they see in print. It doesn’t matter whether it is the newspaper, a book or writings online. Unless there’s a disclaimer stating that it is fictional, they believe.

Answer #2

I think people just want to believe in crazy, exciting things.

Answer #3

Well a lot of what you read online is fact. but of course there are some things written that are just plain made up. Sites like Wikepedia have users that can actually go on there and change everything, So sites like that arnt always reliable.

Either way, almost everything you read,-especially about other countries is exaggerated at least a little.

Answer #4

Because just believe the media in general because the stories catch their attention. People just overexadurate about a lot of things then it ends up in the media. Its all about knowing the real facts before assuming anything you read, its not just the internet.

Answer #5

The media is a “window on the world” it lets everyone in the world know what is going on either locally, nationally or worldwide. Even if you think you don’t use it, you do. Newspapers, internet, news, tv, radio, games, cinemas… lots of things, even things you don’t think are anything to do with the media because EVERYTHING advertises something therefore it is media connected.

Because we survive on this, we HAVE to believe some things. However if it is a scandal about some celebrity in the tabloids, we are 50/50 because if it is published, then the information has had to come from somewhere even though it may be exaggerated slightly.

I will give you an example: Cheryl Cole (nee Tweedy) is a member of Girls Aloud and married to Ashley Cole a footballer in the UK. Earlier this year Ash was accused of cheating on Cheryl - there were evidence for this, so fair enough its true. Few weeks later Cheryl was photographed without her wedding ring, a big fuss was made. But there could’ve been another reason other than revenge at Ash. She could’ve lost it, forgot to put it back on after doing something or Ash had it for some reason.

It then went onto Cheryl supposedly saying that she would take Ash back IF he bought a multi million pound house away from the city so he wouldn’t be lured by the nightlife. This was just something some of her friends said. They get money for selling this piece of gossip. But that is all it is, GOSSIP.

On the other hand, you hear dreadful stories about piercings and how they go wrong, yes there is always a danger to them, but that is one person’s unfortunate mistake. There was one if I remember in my city, a girl went to get her tongue pierced and her tongue got infected and swelled up and had to be operated on because she nearly had to have it taken out. Quite dramatic huh!?!? But that is one person’s story amongst millions. I had mine done and my story would be yeah it hurt but I’m ok!

So really its believing what you read, especially if more than one story are the same and there are evidence to back it up.

Just don’t believe everything until you’re absoloutely sure
