Is a bassinet for a newborn baby worth the money?

When my son was born we were living in a studio apartment so his crib was next to our bed. I dont want to have a big bulky crib in our bedroom and im not comfortable with putting a new born in a room alone at first. Im also not comfortable with co-sleeping in our bed. Is a bassinet worth the money? Did you use one for your little ones?

I dont know about kids, so this doesnt entirely answer your questions, but… My aunt bought a lot of my cousin’s stuff second hand. Craig’s list, garage sales etc, you can get stuff for a fraction of the price. She bought like a box full of clothes for $100.

In my opinion, yes they are better than cribs. Bassinets are more portable and versatile than a crib. They are light weight and usually have wheels so you can move the it from room to room without disturbing your baby. They aren’t bulky. They have a wide base, and they are very stable. Since they are portable, it’s easy to take with you when you are visiting family or friends. I would defiantly recommend a bassinet over a crib.

I’d say it is. When I was 10 I had a doll that I loved and my mother bought me a new bassinet for x-mas for my doll to sleep in. We’re not rich either, so if it was worth the money for my doll then it may be worth the money for your actual living baby. :D

My brother and sister in law always used bouncers, swings, and there’s this playpen (I’ll look for a picture to show you) but it has a thing for newborns, and when the baby gets older, you take the ‘’newborn part’’ off and you can use it for infants… and then when the baby gets even older, it can be used for toddlers… so you make out pretty well with that.. it was around $100 I think (give or take) but it was definitely worth it.. and lasted forever.

Answer #6

You can only use it for a couple of months. I say if you want one save money and find one on craigslist or a once apone a child if you have on near you.
