Why do I still have baby teeth yet I'm 17?

Answer #1

I have one or two as well and i’m almost 17. What happened with me was my big tooth pushed the baby tooth to the back of it, instead of out. I’m not sure why this happens though.

Answer #2

Is it loose or anything, because mine aren’t even loose and my dentist said I can’t get braces until they fall out, so it kinda sucks.

Answer #3

It is worth asking for an xray from your dentist to check if the teeth in the gums are ok and look like they want to push through. It may be that your baby teeth should be removed to help them come through- one of mine was, as it was restricting an adult tooth (although it had become loose at the time, so removal was simple.

No one here can say why your teeth have not fallen out yet. They will in their own time if you do not want to intervene via your dentist, so just look after your existing adult teeth in the meantime.

Answer #4

I got an x-ray last year to see what was going on and they said they should fall out at anytime, but they still haven’t

Answer #5

It happens sometimes. Normally, as the adult tooth pushes up, it causes the baby tooth’s roots to “resorb”, or break down. The tooth loosens and falls out. Occasionally the adult tooth is in a hurry to erupt, and doesn’t wait for the baby tooth’s root to resorb. Then the baby just gets pushed out of the way.

If those teeth don’t fall out soon, you might ask about having them removed. They’ll collect extra plaque, are difficult to keep clean, and can cause gum trouble, and even problems with the neighboring teeth.

Answer #6

If they are showing as being there and ready to come through then I would discuss removal options with your dentist, as you can get problems when teeth just stay in your gums for a long time- they may be trapped in some way.

Answer #7

well it’s not like I have double teeth in those places, like you can’t see the adult teeth, but you can tell they are baby teeth

Answer #8

Mines not loose either. I need braces too, so i was supposed to get my tooth out, but i never went yet :P

Answer #9

You may have impacted adult teeth, the adult teeth may be growing side ways or horizontally. You should ask your dentist next you see him/her. That’s what happen to me, and it was a mess! I had to have the baby teeth pulled, and then surgery to bring down the adult tooth, which took months because they slowing pull the tooth in place with a teeny tiny chain. I hope you won’t have to go throught that!

Answer #10

Some people never loose them. I knew a guy who was 46 and still hat two of them.
