How does someone apply for a medical card?

can you like call the doctor and be like “ yeah i need to see the doctor for a test blah blah, but i don’t have a medical card and i need one cause i can’t pay ect. ect.”… or what?…. yeah sorry for so many questions i’m new to this stuff

You can see a doctor without insurance but you’ll have to pay. Its cheaper to go to a health unit/clinic if you dont have insurance. To apply to state funded insurance you have to apply either online or mail in an application, you have to meet certain criteria though to be eligiable.

You can go to social services to apply. Just tell them you want to apply for medicaid .
