Anyone else experience sleep paralysis

Hi everyone.

I’ve experienced something called “Sleep Paralysis”.

For those who might have but don’t know what the term was, it’s basically when you wake up and you can look around and sort of hear what’s going on around you but you cannot move your body. It feels like a “force” is holding you pinned down to the bed.

The way doctors describe it is your brain awakes from it’s REM state but your body does not respond as quickly. An example is when you have a dream that you are running the marathon, your legs don’t move like you are running right? You’re still, you’re sleeping. Well the chemical that “paralyzes” your body during sleep, is what causes that feeling of being “pinned down”. Your brain awakes too suddenly and your body isn’t quick enough to “turn off” the chemical.

So my question is, has anyone else felt this before?

I have experienced Sleep Paralysis before…more then once. I woke up already shaking radically unable to control it. But there were also times when I could not move at all.
