Anybody know a thing or two about this particular infection?

I have all the symptoms of a yeast infection:

Vaginal itching that is often severe. -CHECK Vaginal discharge. -CHECK Red, irritated skin around the opening to the vagina. -CHECK Pain while urinating when urine touches irritated skin. -CHECK Pain in the vagina during sexual intercourse. -CHECK

This is my FIRST time experiencing anything like this. I just want to know a few things…

*LIKE, HOW DID I EVEN GET IT?

My partner and I were both virgins and haven’t had any other sexual partners before. We haven’t had sex for nearly four months. I come to his house one day and we mess around, but we DON’T have sex. Two days later, I’m left with a sore vag.

*DOES IT GO AWAY ON ITS OWN? Or do I need some kind of medicine for it?

I really wish that it’d just die down in a couple days… even though it’s already been about a week and a half. I can NOT go see a doctor and I’d prefer not to go to a store and buy something for it.

Please help?

Certain types of yeast infections clear up on their own, You could have gotten it from simple things like tight clothing, non cotton underwear, scented pads/ tampons, using soap to wash your vagina, poor diet, douching, etc…However, given the fact that you have all the symptons I would suggest that you go to the pharmacy even though you dont want to. It will be in your best interest. You can clear it up with various over the counter medications e,g, Monistat, so see your local pharmacy ASAP.

“LIKE, HOW DID I EVEN GET IT?”

Yeast infection is considered an STD, but it can happen even without sexual intercourse. When there’s an imbalance in the pH level of your vagina, the level of bacteria in your vagina will decline or increase, and this imbalance will cause the dryness, itchiness, etc. Usually, douching, washing your intimate area with harsh soaps, stress, or even a bad diet can give you yeast infection.

“DOES IT GO AWAY ON ITS OWN?”

It’s better to go get medication for it. It won’t just go away so easily. Also the itching can also give you other infections if you scratch. You can either go to the doctor, or go to the pharmacist and ask for a prescription medication.

One such medical condition that may develop as a result of an untreated yeast infection is a blood condition called sepsis. This is a deadly condition of the blood stream that results from the spread of bacteria.

One other medical condition that may develop as a result of an untreated yeast infection is vulvovaginal candidiasis. This diagnosis is pronounced when a woman has three or more yeast infections of the vagina during the course of one year. It is very important that your untreated yeast infection be addressed by your gynecologist or family doctor.
