any advice on band performances?

hey, my bands ganna perform in a rock comp here in New Zealand, and I’m nervous as hell. Any tips, stage moves, and experiences would be sweet. Oh, and I’m the Bassist.

well I was gonna say the advice given by mrsixstrings12 but additional tips I can give you is.

1.maintain eye contact with your audience do not keep looking at your fret board.

  1. Do not be disheartned by what the crowd says the may act like a b#@ch on your first performance. Remember steve vai’s first performance not everyone showed him the devil horns.

3, more thn anything Have fun doing what you are doing,

  1. Get you freggin guitar properly setup new set of strings and keep a spair peice of strings for every body just incase >.

  2. as sixstringdude said Dont DOnt dont stand at one palce keep moving and when you are moving make sure you dont step on some wire or something :P

  3. Make sure you do your sound checks well before your time cause your sound is gonna sound a lil different when everything is full volume O . O

use curse words that always gets the crowd going, headbang till you dont feel your head anymore, and make sure you encourage people to start a moshpit, we always do these things at my cousin’s band shows, itz awesome and the crowd gets to have loads of fun!!

I’ve played many shows, and seen many local bands

a few key pointers

  1. MOVE - no one wants to watch a group of people just stand and play. jump around, groove, just…MOVE
  2. Showoff - be a little cocky. but not too much. play the guitar behind your back, do a “guitar-flip”, etc
  3. get the crowd involved - this can be done by simply making them clap or sing a few lines with the vocalist. 4 just plain old, have fun - people can usually tell when youre not enjoying yourself when your on stage

Nope all I can say is good luck because there is no way to calm nerves in my opinion I would help but, nothing works for me surry.
