Antisocial

Growing up I was a nerd. I was constantly picked on because of my “nappy” hair and glasses. I have a grand total of 1 friend who I have had all of my life. I’ve heard the old saying if you find one true friend then you are better off thing and trust me I believe it. The problem is that when speaking to someone I tend to get nervous and uncomfortable. People often misconstrue this behavior for snobbery or rudeness. I go through great lengths just to avoid seeing people e.g. not walking anywhere, not standing in lines, at my college I dont eat in the cafeteria even if im starving. I know this behavior is unhealthy especially for someone who wants to be a psychiatrist, a career that is focused on being amicable and conversing with people. Ok all you funadvice veterans, I need your help on this one! How can I becaome more social without overwhelming myself???

well just talk to people, your better off not careing about what people think about you. theres always gonna be those people who will talk about you theres nothing you can do about that. just do your best to not care what anyone thinks and let your true self come out

You are pretty you shouldnt be so conserved. I think if you take little steps like walking to places with your head held high with confidence you can work up to smiling when people look at you. Then you can finally have enough confidence to eat in the ccaffitiria, and stand in lines. Good luck:)
