How to help my pet become protective?

how do you get to get your pet to be protective?

Answer #1

I am going to assume you are talking about a dog. Give it lots of love, feed it and meet its sanitary needs. Spend time with it, one on one developing a role for yourself as leader. The dog needs time as a puppy to socialize with other dogs and people so it can develop a healthy sense of self and not be unnecessarily agressive. Some dogs are just not going to be protective, others may be too protective. There are good books that can tell you how to do this in a caring way. I suggest you start with one that tells you about the breed of dog you have.
