How to stop emotional eating?

how I can stop being addictive and emotional eating..I need to drop 20 pounds but without being anorexic…please help

Dear vanja, Just as you stated it’s emotional eating so it’s time to get the emotions under control. You need to fix what is bothering you…the eating is just symptomatic. Seek out counselling to do this. In the mean time use a journal to keep track of what you are eating. Sometimes seeing it written down helps to see just what you are eating. If you eat 6 small meals a day, making sure to drink at least 6 glasses of water you will get on track. You are adding to your problems with the pressure of loosing 20lbs…this takes time and doesn’t happen overnight. You are adding to your emotional turmoils. Sue…good luck

Umm I don’t really have an answer for you but just wanted to say I’m in the same boat.

The above answers are good; really you just have not not get emotional and not feel so down. Tackle whats bothering you.

Or when you are emotional, try NOT to think about food. The more you think about it the easier it is to go and grab something.

Alternatively, go snuggle up in bed - even if you don’t sleep - for a few hours and let your mind wonder. If you really really need to fill yourself with something try a hot drink like tea or coffee. And don’t be stingy on milk and sugar. You won’t gain weight from a splash of milk and a teaspoon of sugar.

when you get upset keep yourself busy, do anything to forget about eating,or even eat fat free food if its necessary, goodluck.

im probubly the biggest hypocrit 4 answering this question because I eat when my emotions are messed up

but try doing something else like looking up jokes or watchin a comedy or chick flick film just something to take your mind off eating
