A Dad and Mom Question

If your daughter is above 15 years old, and she surprised you by telling you that she had a boyfriend, how would you react and what would you do about it?

Answer #1

I’d want to meet him and maybe drop them off at the mall together or something. Im a laid back person and I’d be the same way as a parent. She’s going to have a life of her own and I wouldn’t stop it.

Answer #2

I would be fine with it, though I would ask my daughter if she wants to be put on birth control as a precautionary measure. Teenagers should have sex if they want to, \you just need to emphasize safety.

No, teenagers really shouldn’t.

They should only have birth control if they’re having a difficult period.

I definitely agree with lovely lady. Even if you may be shocked and disapprove of your fifteen year old daughter having a boyfriend, you have to accept the fact that she is growing up and will date eventually. The best thing you can do as a parent is allow it with boundaries. Invite the boy over so that you can get a good look at what he’s about and show what you expect of him. Supervise for the first few visits but after that, allow them do be alone but in an open room and open door policy. Let your daughter know that you trust her but show that your role as a parent will be enforced under your own rules. Just be as friendly and open as possible otherwise she will rebel and you’re likely to have a sneeky daughter at that age.
