Your opinion on depression please.

Hi

My family and I have been having this discussion for quite a while and I would like to know what your opinion is on the subject is.

I noticed that a lot of young people (say between 13 and 18) speak about the fact that they are feeling down and “depressed” and are on medication for depression etc.

However we were discussing the issue and I am thinking that maybe people rush to the doctor to soon these days to get on medication for their problems and mood swings. It doesn’t always seem necessary to me, especially since it is normal for teenagers to feel up and down due to hormones and development.I myself went through some up and down stages but was only treated for reactive depression when I was 18 for about 4 months)

So my question to you it. Do you think that there are really so many teens suffering for depression or are most of them just running to the doctor in an attempt to escape problems and issues today?

Answer #1

One of the main problems today is the power of pharmaceutical companies.

They systematically push their products on doctors, hospitals, clinics, nurses, Physician assistants and nurse practioners. Many docs even get commissions on drug products. Medical professionals are brainwashed by drug companies. And we are brought up to believe a pill makes us feel better, regardless of what’s wrong with us.
