Why we yawn when were sleepy

Lol my dad wants to know why we yawn when were sleepy if anyone knows thankx for the answer

Usually when you’re tired you don’t breath as deeply and as often…so you yawn to get more oxygen into your body.

Your body’s systems slow a little when you are tired, so your breathing may slow. Yawning is just when your body realises and needs to take in more oxygen to keep your functioning =)

I think it is just coincidence that it occurs when we are sleepy. I think anytime we yawn it is the body’s way of seeking more oxygen.

lol I heard yawning is to give more oxygen to the brain dont know what that has to do with sleeping but anyway
