What's wrong if you smell a weird sickly-sweet smell?

i know that smell and it could be your dog’s ears, or expired honey. But since u said no one else smells it…is your nose oily and gets sweaty alot? i have the same prob. cuz my nose is oily and sweaty…sometimes my nose gets smelly too but no one else can smell it cuz ur noses are way up there and the smell isn’t strong enough to have other people smell it. Just use face cleanser and make sure you wash your face (around the nose too) frequently if your nose is oily. Hope this helped. lol

Since it is around the same time every year maybe is plant and seasonal related and you could be allergic to it and that is why it affects you but not your family. Another possibility could be a neurological issue but that would either happen randomly or all the time and not at a set time every year.

I remember a “sickly sweet” smell that I always smelled in hot, sunny places out in the boonies when i was going to high school in wyoming. I asked around and learned that its a certain weed that flowers in the late summer months and exudes a nasty almost rotten smell.

that or you could have a benign tumor in your brain that’s applying pressure to the part that processes your sense of smell, causing you to hallucinate. Stroke victims describe the same experience occasionally, as the embolism or rupture had the same pressurizing hallucinatory effect.

Is it at all possible that you’re smelling your own breath? Diabetes can be one possibility.

it’s not a set time, I think. It happened August-Feburary last time

I don’t think it’s my breath, it happens when I’m brushing my teeth and my mouth is closed sometimes. it just comes on randomly. I’ve started a notebook that I write whats happening every time it happens and it happened 17 times yesterday each one lasted 10-20 seconds

It’s not the flower idea, it happens inside as well as outside, and it was Fall-Winter last time.

I wash my face twice a day and I have dry skin.

I smell this really bad kinda rotting sweet smell at random times throughout the day. there’s no pattern except it’s always 10-20 seconds and it’s never more than 19 times a day.

Is a neighbour or even relative secretly growing Marijuana ? Often adults will deny such doings to a child to try and protect you from the evil world of drug abuse….and the smell of weed can be sweet and sickly .

-_- I’ve smelt it in diff states, I doubt there’s some marijuana growing creeper following me cross-states.
