How do you insert a header on the second page of a document?

Im writing a paper for school in mla format. You are supposed to have your last name in the header starting on your second page of the document… How do you insert a header but not have it in the first page of the document? Thankks :)

Insert your header to your completed document
Go to File - Page Setup - Layout
Check the box that says ‘Different First page’ - ok
Leave your first page header empty.
Fill in the header on your second page

Unfortunately I only know how to do it on my version of word 08, it’s on a mac so I dont know if it is different, but it’s view, header and footer, type it in to the second page, then go to view, formatting palette, and there’s a little box you can check that says different first page. If this is completely different on your word, go to help, and search for header
