Would you have walked away from your man?

just kicked my boyfriend of 2.5 years out of the house. The entire time we lived together, he talked of getting married. THEN, 10 months ago he started acting really weird. I found flirtatious texts with a much younger girl from the office. He also lied about going out a night or two with her. He claims she was just a friend from the office. I asked if I could meet her and he said no, it is not a good idea?!? At the time, I left the relationship but he begged me to stay. I gave it another chance. I think they stopped talking but felt I never really knew what happend and I never really trusted him after that. Recently, he said he was not ready to get married (which I wasnt sure was the right thing considering I did not trust him anymore). Although I loved and love him, decdided to cut my losses and move on. It is really hard.

You did a good thing walking away, I only wish I was as brave as you are.I know that my girlfriend has cheated on me and she constantly beat the sh*t out of me for no reason but I still keep coming back for more. I dont knowwhy. I do know ii believe you are smart for doing that and also brave.

From what you described, this guy sounds like the classic species of d-bag boyfriend who is scared to death to be out on his own but yet desperately wants to be out there playing the field, and so you got stuck providing him a happy home to come back to when he wasn’t texting nymphs. I used to be that guy, too, and I dragged my girlfriend through several years of distrusting, anxious hell because I was too scared to be single. finally, after 4.5 years (!) she cut me loose, and it was the best thing that could have possibly happened for both of us. She got to shed all the stress of not trusting someone she loved so much, and I got to grow into an adult without relying on relationship training wheels. Today, we’re best friends, talk every day, and have known each other 10 years.

You did a brave thing walking away. He’s going to be a much better person if he is allowed to figure out what he wants on his own, and you’re going to be much happier devoting your time to someone who cares about you 100%.
