Would tanning at a salon help acne?

Okay so im thinking about going tanning at a tanning salon because I have bad back and chest acne and I think it might help clear it up. And its a private way to tan. Do you think its a good idea, like do you think it would clear my acne up because the thing is im outside a lot but I wear regular short sleeve shirts and so I have tanlines on my arms and where the acne starts is right where its pale and no tan. If you can help, give me advice please.

I grew up in Daytona Beach, so I know about getting a tan and breakouts. There is nothing worse for your skin than tanning, even in a tanning bed. It may help your breakouts temporarily, but when you weigh that against skin cancer and looking 50 when you are 30, it IS NOT WORTH IT!!! Get some medication for acne (Jennifer Love Hewitt advertises some for acne on your body) and don’t use the sun as a temp fix. You may think I sound like an old drag now (I am old enough to be your mom), but my best friend and my sister-in-law sunned a lot when they were young have both have had skin cancer’s removed. Also, my sister-in-law looks 60 and she’s 42. It just isn’t worth it and it could end up costing your life. If you want to look tan, use a sunless tanner. I’ve enclosed a pic of my son and I so you can see how old I look (I have added a streak of blue in my hair to celebrate my 50th birthday, I wear flip flops, jeans and hate bras, so old people can be cool too…)

Actually, tanning is only a temporary fix for acne. It proceeds to dry out your skin and while it may clear up the current pimples, your skin is so desperate to hydrate itself that it starts forming oil at a faster rate = more zits in the long run. Don’t do it!

Answer #3

first off, it costs a lot of money, and my sister did when she was my age and they said its external not internal so they suggested proactive..

Answer #4

I’ve been using proactiv actually. and I dont think its been helping because everyday I get more pimples. and where the sun hits me/ where im tan, is where I dont have any acne at all. but theres no place I can tan thats outside because I dont want anyone watching me. its embarassing. so thats why I think a tannning bed would work..

Answer #5

Tanning doesn’t clear up acne, no. You need some ointment type stuff to clear up your acne, I would consider ProActive if I were you. I’m sure the tanning could make your acne a little less noticeable, but it needs to be treated.

Answer #6

Yeah try the foaming wash I have never had this prob but someone in the family did NO TANNING and if your embarassed you may have low self esteem?… Don’t worry about what other people think! The truth is that when you are thinking that they’re judging you they think the same.

Answer #7

Yes I agree it would help. The reason I say this is because I developed a skin rash which turned into a red scaly, itchy patch. The doc said it would be greatly helped by using the tanning beds. Sure enough it disappeared within the first five tans!

The doc said the tanning lights were invented to help heal skin diseases, but when they realized the effects of the lights (tanning the skin) they began selling them as tanning beds instead.

Answer #8

no, sun damadge ot light damdge doesnt hela, fix, otr help anything tanning beds can cause cancer, those things are very dangerouse if you want to clear up acne try a specialized routine of cleanse, tone and moisturise… and use products that fight off acne for your skin type id recomend starting with somethimg like the “clean and clear” range
