Is it a bad for a woman/man to have a tubal ligation/vasectomy at a young age?

Physically - no. It doesn’t do any harm and a younger body heals faster than an older one.

However, it is still major surgery and alot of doctors will not perform a vasectomy or a tubal on younger men and women. Vasectomies are easier to perform and easier to reverse so its not as much of a big deal if a younger guy chooses to recieve one for personal reasons.

Tubals for women however are major surgery and not easy to reverse if the woman changes her mind in the future. When your young your priorities, thoughts, goals, etc are constantly changing and maturing….i don’t see the point in having major surgery (unless you have previous children) when there are very good and efficent non-permanant birth control options out there.

Mandyloo answered this question very well the only thing I have to add is your 15 I strongly advise against undergoing a major life altering decision at your age. yes you may think that you don’t want kids now but you will be permanently sterilizing yourself. I’m not going to give the sex at a young age lecture but if you are having or plan on having sex condoms run about $3-5 for a pack of 10-12 and are about 80-90 percent effective. there is the pill which is a little more effective when taken correctly and most insurance plans cover. and both used is about 99% effective. not to mention the nuva ring and that thing that looks like a T. so if you are considering it I would give it alot of serious self reflection and discussion with your parents, school nurse, guidance counselor, or any combination of the three before you or anybody else around your age take that leap.
