Where did I go: I was 16 at the time and luckily I have older cousin’s that took me in for a while. I stayed with my cousin for about a month. I could have called the cops because they can’t legally kick you out if you are a minor, but I didn’t want to go through the hassle.

What I did: I kept trying to talk to them, to explain why I believed what I did. I never gave up. My dad was more willing to talk to me and listen to me. I talked to him every day, and asked him to talk to my mother and try and convince her to let me come back.

How they accepted me: It took about a month before they let me come back. It took about 6 months before they dropped the subject and accepted it. My parents had a really hard time with it because my dad has cancer and they believe that God is keeping him alive and they are blessed. She was upset because I dont believe in God, and she felt it was a slap in her face. I just talked to her, told her I loved her but I could not change my beliefs to make her happy. Eventually - she gave up and accepted it.
