Why is there always some sort of racism endorsed by the media?

Okay so im taking this sociology class at my university and professor is literally in love with lecturing us on racism and sexism. He claims that racism still exists because of some sort of secret agenda the government- that the government basically controls with is acceptable and what isnt. Any thoughts or comments because I really dont know much about this specific topic.

College professors generally have tenure which means that they can’t be fired for havng controversial views. I’ve had college professors who were all over the map politically and socially. I never took any classes from him but when I went to college there was this economics professor who was widely considered a nutball. His views were ridiculed by other students and other professors. When he decided to go into politics I heard many people say that his views were so extreme he was unelectable but in 1984 Professor Dick Armey became Representative Dick Armey.

Anyway, I would have to hear more of your professor’s argument before I judged it. If your professor managed to get you to consider other points of view or more thoroughly examine your own views than he was successful. You should respect well reasoned arguments even when you disagree with them. I’d also add that sometimes professors play Devil’s advocate and argue the opposite of their own position just to get students to consider a different point of view.

I dont know if the government necesarily controls what is acceptable, but im sure it has a big influence on it. Like now that we have a black president, im sure there just might be less discrimination in the work feild when it comes to leadership? im not sure. But I don’t know, I dont trust or Government at all… I guess you can call me an Anarchist… lol they just go against their own beliefs, Like if someone punches me in the face, im supposed to back off and do nothing and not fight back or “im as guilty as them because violence isnt the answer” and yet they seem to solve every problem with violence. “War on Terrorism”? how lame and hypocrtical, thats like haveing sex for virginity..

I seriously fear that your professor is unbalanced.

Paranoid could be one way of putting it.

There are only two things for you to do:

  1. stop listening to him, or
  2. ask him politely for proof of his government-agenda-control theory.

Of course any democratic government exercises a certain amount of control - it’s part of their job in protecting the people who elected them. The opposite would be anarchy. But from there to say that the government has a secret agenda concerning racism and/or sexism - THAT requires better proof!

racism and sexism still exist, almost everywere but the only places that the government controls are places like china were peoples freedom of speech and there right to learn about important things like freedom, and there rights have been banned are are not allowed to be seen by the people living there
