Why is my pitbull getting bald spots on him?

My pitbull is about 7 months old he has been getting bald spots on him losing hair also is getting small lumps around his body im going to take him to the vet when I get paid in three days but would like to know if anybody had any idea on whats going on with him thankz

Answer #1

My pit has the same problem… the vet told me to try tinactin foot powder.

Answer #2

It could be allergies…it could be mange…some mange (sarcoptic for instance is catchy)…some mange is caused by immune issues (Demodectic mange). The only way to know for sure is to take him to the Vet for a skin scraping (non-painful)…they will look at it under a microscope.

If you’re feeding generic dogfood, then that’s the only way I can see that he might malnourished…and you’d know if you weren’t feeding enough…he’d show it. p

Answer #3

he’s still very much a puppy so I would think that it’s probably mallnutrition. this may sound strange but puppy’s eat more than full grown dogs. always make sure his water and food dishes are full.

Answer #4

There’s a number of things it could be. The most common reason for excessive hair lose in dogs, and humans (fyi), is malnutrition.

I would imagine the next would be mange, which is either some kind of skin fungus, or bacterial infection.

Not sure, but I think mange is transferable to humans and I think it’s common in puppies.

Either way you need to take him to the vet because I’m just a factoid, not a vet.
