Why is my older dog is sneezing a lot ?

I brought home a pup a couple of weeks ago ( from a reputable breeder) he was up to date on his shots. Both dogs now have a clear liquid discharge from their noses…my older dog appeared to have labored breathing so I ran her to the vet today who told me she sounded clear but put her on antibiotics just in case it’s pneumonia…I should have asked more questions but, the vet was a fill in for the regular doctor, and they were closing up…the older pup is sneezing a lot, breathes funny then is fine. They are both eating and playing fine but the clear stuff is still flowing. Any feedback would be great. God bless and thanks

This is an easy question to answer because my dog had it. It won’t kill the dog but your dog may have kennel cough. When puppies are in a small area for a long time a sickness spreads between them. Older dogs can catch it from younger dogs very easily. You may consider taking your dog in for a check-up at the vet. The puppy too, just so he won’t spread it any more. Like I said it will not kill him but it is sort of painful for the dog, it could even just be a small alergy problum to the younger dog.

Kinda have to go by elimination…since the discharge is clear, there is no infection (green and yellow mucous are infectious)…

When you brought the new pup in, did you also bring in new toys? New bedding? New anything? I’m wondering if they are having a reaction to dust or fumes or even stuffing in a dog bed…something that they both are laying on, or playing with.
