Why is my dog's diahhreah black?

My dog has been having diahhreah for a few days. I have been feeding her rice with boiled chicken and pepto bismol as well as pedialyte. Her squirts are now coming out black. Could the pepto bismol or pedialyte cause her poop to be black?

Answer #1

Black poop indicates blood in the stool. Since she is not responding to the bland diet, or Pepto Bismol, then it’s time to take her to the Vet. She may have gotten into something so toxic, that she needs medication (Flagyl/Metronidazolea) to calm her gut.

The fact that her poop is black gives me a sense of urgency…get her in ASAP.

you probably shouldn’t be giving her medicine intended for people.

Answer #3

umm you should not be giving him or her pepto bismol or pedialyte those are intended for kids and probably interfeered with him/hers sensitive digestive system. no more pepto bismol or pedialyte and take her to a vet. –Lily–
