Why is my cat's nose dry and why is he wheezing a lot?

For the past 2 months, my bengal cat, Gambit, has had a really dry and crusty nose. It seems to have build up along his nostrils and I clean it every other day. I also noticed that whenever I play with him, he starts wheezing and breathing rapidly. It usually starts when I’m about 5 minutes into playing with him that the wheezing/rapid breathing occurs. If anyone can help me out with this, that would be great. Thank you.

Answer #1

I would take him to a vet. He could possibly have a breathing problem. And the only way to find that out FOR SURE is to take him to a professional. (vet)

Answer #2

your cat isnt well, get him to a vet… they can catch colds and it doesn’t have to be cat flu, can just be a cold like we get, but not a human cold of course.. definately a check up at the vets asap.

A DRY NOSE AND WHEEZING IS SERIOUS,I’VE BEEN THROUGH IT AND I STUDY ANIMALS EVERY SINGLE DAY SO I KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT…PLEASE TAKE HIM TO A VET FAST,UNFORTUNANTLEY ONE OF MY CATS WAS ALREADY SO BAD OFF SHE HAD TO BE PUT TO SLEEP AND SHE DIDNT SEEM LIKE SHE WAS THAT SICK EITHER.i WOULD GIVE ANYTHING TO HAVE HER BACK,BUT THANKFULLY MY OTHER CAT GOT TREATED IN ENOUGH TIME.ALSO DO NOT TOUCH THE CRUST BECAUSE SOME THINGS YOU CAN GET FROM ANIMALS AND MOST OF THE TIME THAT IS HOW HUMANS GET IT.GOOD LUCK,maybe my kitty Ranger will watch over Gambit, while he’s getting better.

Answer #4

I heard that if your animals nose is dry that means they are sick.

Answer #5

Most Bengals have the dry nose. I am researching it now, and it is always the Bengals. I do not think it is that serious. The wheezing may be another story.

Answer #6

Bengals are suceptable to a dry nose , it appears to be an inherited condition, some have found relief in changing diet less grain more protein some speculate it is an auto immune disease and others say it is allergy based. In any event vasolene and vita E rubbed on can give relief, I have also read lysene helps. One lady swore by CS and Lysene but call me dumb I have mo clue what CS means… as far as the wheezing he should see a vet he could have aspirated fluid , have a kitty cold or have allergies. I would test out his diet and make some changes would be a simple fix if both were caused by food allergies to grains or gluten try some of the high protein foods without grain. or try giving him fresh chicken, fish and beef for 2 weeks and see if he gets better
