Why is it wrong for a 16 year old to date a 13 year old?

well I’m 16 and I met this 13 year old girl on vacation. We really like eachohter so we decided to start dating. Is the age difference to high? because I’m starting to have second thoughts

ps. if it helps, I look 14

I didn’t see sex mentioned anywhere in his question… Keep your mind above your belt, lol. The gap is considerable, given your age (whereas a three year difference would mean less were the two of you older), but so long as the two of you are responsible and don’t engage in any serious physical/ sexual contact, then I see nothing wrong here. If the two of you like each other, then I’m sure there are many reasons for that. I believe (as has been mentioned above) that maturity levels must be considered. Remember that she most likely has a lot of growing up to do. Just because you are mature and ready for certain things within a relationship (not necessarily physical things) doesn’t mean that she is.

So long as you are responsible and sensible, then I see no reason for the ttwo of you not to date. Good luck :)!

Id just watch yourself with that cause you being 16 already and her not… well that could cause problems. Its nothing to me. Im 19 and my fiance is going to be 27 in a couple months. Like the other comment said.. three years isnt a lot, but when your younger the maturity thing takes a big part because youre still constantly changing and maturing. You could be on way different levels or she could be more mature for her age. Just watch cause the law doesnt care how mature someone is under 18.

The biggest issue with a large age gap in your teen years is differences in expectations and maturity level. The older you get, the more you tend to want a more physical relationship. From the time you were her age (13) to being 16 now, you have grown up a lot. If you and this girl are on the same maturity level and you have the same expectations of each other, then its not an issue; however, this rarely is the case.

I dont think its wrong at all its only a three year difference ummm and I think I noticed you looked too young to be 16 I actually thought you were 14 yhu know a freshman haha

Answer #6

you do realize your breaking the law and will end up on teh sex offenders register ::|

Answer #7

I go to a law school and he isn’t breaking the law because you have to be 4 years older than the person you are dating and if you aren’t having sex you are perfectly fine in the eyes of the law. But if you fo have sex with her make sure it is consented and that if you need it you have prof of the consent. so you keep going with the girl if it doesn’t bother you nor her alike.

maybe in your country…
