Why is it bad to pop your knuckles?

I pop my knuckles a lot and I was wondering if it is bad. And if so why ?

Answer #1

I read in “Reader’s Digest” that a man did a study on this. he popped the knuckles in one hand every day for 60 years, but not the other. when he finally went to the doctor at the end of his study, BOTH hands were perfectly normal. while it honestly may be possible to develop some form of arthritis from this, it’s unlikely. and I have been popping my knuckles for quite a long time, and my knuckles are not bigger. my knuckles actually feel better after doing so.

Answer #2

I’ve popped my spine every day for most of my life and my posture is excellent and comfortable. in fact, I can pop most of the joints in my body. It feels amazing in the morning and I’ve never had any problems with major skeletal/muscular issues. I think that when a joint pops, it means that group of connective tissue has been sufficiently flexed or stretched. It improves or at least maintains flexibility, and my fingers and everything look fine.

It does NOT make your knuckles bigger. That is a myth. It also does NOT increase your risk of arthritis, that is also a MYTH.

What it can do to you is cause your joints to weaken and the strength in your hands when you get older and that isn’t necessarily good.

Answer #4

its bad because it makes your knuckles bigger. and you have a greater risk of arthuritis. I pop my knuckles too but its hard to stop. :)

Answer #5
