Why does my female cat hate my male cat?

I have a 4 year female cat, a 4 year old male cat, and and 8 year old male cat that has access to the entire house. I also have a 3 year old male cat who we keep in one room. We started letting out the 3 year old male and he gets along with the other two male cats, but the female hisses and growls at him whenever he comes in the same room as her. Why does she hate him so much? Is it because she isnt use to having him around?

My 10 year old Male cat only likes me and that is the way it has always been. Any other cats I have had over the years (2) he does not like. One got out and disappeared and one is an older female we adopted. He has never played or liked other dogs or cats.

It may be a male cat thing? He is neutered but that seems not to matter a lot. I got this guy as a kitten and he does not like my grandchildren, husband etc. But anywhere I am he is close by and sleeps behind my head at night. So I am happy.

Maybe it is a cat personality thing

well cats are territorial…females and males dont get along as well, your female doesnt know the other one as well and thinks hes new. so she wants him to stay off her terittory.

Most likely…but cats have personalities too - maybe she thinks he’s a loser.

I know that sounds weird, but I also have a female cat who hates one of my males, even though she’s fine with the others. As far as we can tell, she thinks he’s an idiot, lol.
