Why do people pressure others into being skinny as h ell?

So I’m watching this show for getting “in shape” and a lot of the people in there look good and nice body wise before and after they look like skeletons with abs. >:( I see young girls like freakin 11 years old worried that they don’t look like freakin linsday lohan. What the freakin ell? People who are good and healthy and beautiful get made fun of and called fatties. Its retarded. I don’t get it. Someone explain please. I mean its bad when your 2 feet tall and 300 lbs and it affecting your health but these people are what maybe 100 lbs and competly healthy but have a tiny pudge and think “omg I’m a fat a ss!” seriously. Someone help me understand.

its the media that has caused this skinny girls are EVERYWERE in the media there in magazines, in movies, in adds, in music videos, and celebrities are thin or pressured to be thin and “‘flawless”‘ magazines and websites are really to blame for photoshopping celebrities and everyone in general to make them appear “‘flawless”‘ girls see these other girls who dont have any scars, celulite, fat, ect and wonder if somethings wrong with them becausethey dont see how they can be normal if everyone else they see looks like a barbie doll everything can be photoshopped, and often peoples bodies, face and also breasts are more flawless/larger ect than they are in real life every single cover of a fashion magazine now has soemone who has been photoshopped as well as pretty much every other picture of a person in it unless stated otherwise like in some dolly and girlfreind mags (they will for 1-2 photoshoots in the mag not photoshop people) but those poeple are still made out to look good with fake tan, make-up and lighting

Our society has an odd paradox.

We are fatter than we have ever been but our ideal of beauty is now thinner than it ever has been. The end result is that almost everyone feels bad about their body.

When our ideal figure requires us to watch every bite we take and workout hours/day there is something wrong with this. Most people do not have the priorities or time to keep this up.

The disconnect between reality and fantasy is the cause of our eating disorders where people starve or purge trying to attain an unrealistic weight.

It’s horrible!I am skinny as heck but I didn’t chose to be this way!My mom is like this and so is my bro.I am trying to gain weight but it’s hard(for me!Lol!)But the reason is b/c they want to be flawless. There is all of these t.v shows, magizenes, movies and much more telling how pretty these girls are and the normal girls are like”I wanna look like that.”And totally harm themselves! It’s wrong and horrible!!!It’s not real!!!Hope I helped!!!=D

I agree. It’s really shocking when you see someone trying to be so skinny. It also really pisses me off when they photoshop models and celebrities into looking all perfect when everyone is far from that. I mean, can’t they show that even they have flaws? To them it seems to be ways of making money but it’s just making other girls feel badly about themselves.
