Why do people have trouble knowing there is a God?

Why is it that people have trouble in believing in God? Yes there is suffering and misery in this world, but God gave man free will, and it’s humans that are the ones causing it. The guilt people feel about religion, I believe, was caused by the early Roman Catholics, who re-wrote the real bible in 54 AD. They wanted the illiterate people of the day to follow them(and get their money). So they added somethings like hell and the devil.

so obviously there is some truth in the bible it has to be ture but how on earth dose the person know who wrote it what god did before they we’re even alive :| some christians a narrow minded people who have no repect for other people actions. recently a wome died because she was a ‘witness’ and couldn’t have a blood tranfusion im sure if blood tranfusion weren’t helpful god would of condemed it im someway so thats I think peope don’t belive in ‘GOD’

Answer #2

some people…are just afraid…

afraid to follow…

and its sad.

Answer #3

Thanks to all that responded. There were some good ones.

Answer #4

I believe many do not believe in Him because they have not given Him the chance to manifest Himself in their lives. They want proof, hard evidence that He exists, and that they will not receive without an open heart and an open mind.

Answer #5

well the devil & hell are real the Bible says it and the Bible is God’s word. but I think people have trouble believing in God because God says that we all do wrong and that we need to change our ways and quite frankly some people dont like that. they want God to tell them what they want to hear, not the truth.

Answer #6

thex13thxchild, Actually, the Bible wasn’t TRANSLATED TO ENGLISH until the 1600s. It started being written about 3500+ years ago…

Answer #7

“so obviously there is some truth in the bible it has to be ture(sic)”

It does? Why?

Answer #8

devil & hell are real the Bible says it

Yeah well, flying reindeer are real, Santa Claus says it.

Answer #9

It takes a profound degree of insincerity to oneself to not believe this. People do it because they don’t WANT to believe that they are ultimately responsible to someone.

Answer #10

Hmmm… and some who DO follow, do it out of fear.

Answer #11

last time I checked, god didn’t fax down the bible..

I’m going to write a book, and name it “what you must do”

let’s see how many people base a religion off of me, that’d be rad !

Answer #12

“It takes a profound degree of insincerity to oneself to not believe this. People do it because they don’t WANT to believe that they are ultimately responsible to someone.”

Excuse me? My refusal to believe in something for which there is absolutely no evidence except hearsay and a book is “insincerity”? What about all those people that believe some religion other than yours?

Answer #13

You’re funny, the bible wasn’t written until the 1700’s & most of the things that are now in the bible were orinally band, like the dead sea scrolls for einstance Here’s a question, which God? I believe in Luna & the true question is, why do people like you have trouble in acceptng that not all people believe in the same things!

Answer #14

I think that people are having difficulties in believing In God because they expect Him to appear in real person and to do “magic” which everyone could see.

Or they just dont see so they kinda have nothing to believe, a bit stupid but sort of reality .

Answer #15

here’s my thing… ok so “God” gave free will and that is causing all the suffering. But isn’t God all knowing and wouldn’t he have forseen that we would have screwed it all up and caused all the suffering and misery? So therefore… God has the power to prevent suffering and misery but he doesn’t.

I don’t believe in “God” or religion because there are too many holes and contradictions. It’s not about being uneducated. I learned how to read and I read the whole Bible. It’s also not about being young or “uncool” either.

Benjamin Franklin was atheist.

Why do people have trouble believing in unicorns and vampires? - oh that’s right because they are fiction too.

I believe in an afterlife. I have personaly witnessed something that could only be perceived as paranormal. You could attempt to discount what I saw, but I know it was real. So I figured that the best way to learn something about what happens when you die, was to read what others say about it. And keep an open mind. I know what I believe, and it doesn’t have to agree with anyone else. There is too much contridiction in the Judeo-Christian bible. I recently read Sylvia Browne’s book on the mystic life of Christ. It’s not for everybody, but I found it useful.

Answer #17

* Why is it that people have trouble in believing in God?

Because ‘God’ is obviously just ancient myth. For me, I view belief in deities in the same way you likely view belief in leprechauns. You don’t reject leprechauns because you hate them, or because there aren’t enough pots of gold in the world, you reject leprechauns because it’s obvious nonsense from a time period when there was little distinction between fantasy and reality.

-just like gods.

Answer #18

You also are an atheist. You do not believe in the Norse gods, or Hindu gods, or Greek gods, or Bahá’í god, etc. I just go one god further than you. (Now it’s your turn to tell me that those other gods are false gods and Jehovah is the only TRUE god. Unfortunately that is precisely the argument of the true believers in Muhammad’s teachings. And most every other religion.)

Answer #19

I dont know if I believe in everything the bible sais. a lot of it is crap, but I do believe in god, I believe in heaven , and I believe in guardian angels. people have a hard time believing because a lot of people need to see things to believe it, thats the way my sister is. she is an atheist…and I am far from it. I like believeing that when I die, I dont just lay in a cold ground…I like to believe that there is another purpose for me after death.

Answer #20

Because there’s absolutely no evidence for the existence of a god - any of them. If you try and imagine what a world with no god would look like, it’s remarkably similar (indistinguishable, even) to this one!

fau: Actually, there’s a pretty strong correlation between education and atheism & agnosticism. I’d prefer you didn’t try and insinuate that everyone who doesn’t believe your particular fairy-tale is stupid or ignorant. Thanks.

Answer #21

“I believe many do not believe in Him because they have not given Him the chance to manifest Himself in their lives. They want proof, hard evidence that He exists, and that they will not receive without an open heart and an open mind.”

More self-fulfilling prophecies. In essence, you’re saying that the only way you’ll get any “evidence” is if you already belive - without reason - the very thing supposedly being proven.

So I agree. You’re right, the only way you’ll believe in god is if you convince yourself he exists based on wishful thinking, not evidence.

Answer #22

Some people only believe in what is logical, so god is, accordingly, just another fairy tale.

Answer #23

why do people have trouble knowing people knowing there is not a god.???

                                    I ask you
Answer #24

Sorry to break it to you, but I don’t give a s* about you or your stupid bible and god.
