Why do I feel uncomfortable around white people

Coming form brooklyn I never really had eye to eye contact with a white person except my friend /exboyrfriend who’s white but he act black so thats different and teachers

Now that I transfer to a school in manhattan, I feel mad wierd taking the train and walkin down the street in manhttan and its mostly white people, its like they all stare at me. I feel like I dont belong there, I dress nice and stuff and when I enter a store or something they just stare a me, plus my new school is half white…its mad awkward…how can I feel more comfortable

people are people no matter the color of their skin. you may think they are staring but in reaity they may be looking at you bc you are looking at them.

Answer #2

All I can say is ignore color, change is sometimes hard but years of evolution have allowed us to adapt , and I think you can too.

Answer #3

maybe they just think your good looking

It’s just something that takes time - you’ll start to feel more comfortable once you’re used to it. I know how you feel - I live in a town where its pretty much all white people (like myself) then I go to Toronto to visit where there are many different races and it makes me feel like everyone is staring. It’s a really uncomfortable situation but you’ll learn to accept it, good luck. :)
