Why do I feel so sad when I think about my dog?

Oky this is going to be long so yea. My parents are divorced and I visit my dad but I dont live with him but a few years back he got me a puppy of my dreams for christmas I even got to pick her out, she was my baby she followed me around she couldnt stand being without me but then me and my father got in a huge fight, we never got along and the only reason I stayed as long as I did is because of my dog((elliey)) so I stopped seeing him, so I dont see her anymore and I accually cry every time I think about her im crying now no joke and I havnt seen her for almost a year, my mom got the same kind of dog a little after, but shes her baby and well a few days ago my mom got me all excited about getting a new dog I picked out a name and everything but today she said that the person called her and said they were deformed and the puppys probably wont survive. I cried for 2 hours and now I just dont want one period, im sick of it I hate it and its no fair and I dont know if I should feel like this but I honestlly dont even want to look at a dog…ever and I dont know what to do

I had a dog once and she was the light in my darkest times. Whenever I was sad she was there as if she knew that I wasn’t happy, and it would comfort me just to have her near. Nothing else could help me feel better then just spending time playing with my dog. Sometimes you don’t want to talk to somebody and have them give you advice or judge you for it, you just want someone to talk to and listen. With animals it doesn’t matter to them whether you mess up and do something you shouldn’t because as long as you’re good to them they’ll always love you for who you are.

My dog was that for me and it really hurt me when she was stolen from me awhile back. I was heart-broken for months and it still hurts when I think about her at times, because even though it might seem dumb she was my best-friend and the only one I could talk to without feeling judged.

(lol) Now that I’ve rambled on about my life here’s my advice for you - I was really not into getting a dog for a long time after that, but not having her around anymore reminded me just how much she Really wasn’t there. So finally my Mom and Step-dad took me to a friend’s place and they had some puppies that had just been born awhile back and were wanting to get rid of them. I was apprehensive about getting one since I Knew that even if I did get one it would never be the same as my old dog and I would always be measuring it up to her, but my mom and dad were very pressing on the matter so I ended up getting one and it turned out it was a good choice. Even though this dog wasn’t the same as my old one at all it helped to have something to fill the space that had been left in my life after I lost my old dog. I know that you said that you tried getting one and it didn’t turn out well but keep at it. I know it doesn’t seem like a good idea now but trust me you’ll be much happier in the long run if you do. =)

My dog died.I’ve had her for 12 years. I dont know exactly what you could do, but I think about her a lot and I stopped crying after a while.

I think the level of how you feel is made worse by the fact you feel betrayed by your father. He gave you the dog as a present and then kept it when the two of you stopped getting along/speaking. This is not how a parent should behave and I think that deep down you are sad about how he treated you and it makes you even more sad about missing your dog. Maybe you should not ‘buy’ a puppy, perhaps you should adopt one from a shelter. They have tons of sweet cute puppies and sometimes you can get a purebred from a shelter. That way you would save a puppie’s life (if they aren’t adopted the shelters kill them) and you could become a really good parent to your puppy.

And sorry about the novel I wrote. I guess sometimes I just can’t help myself =P
