Why do girl dachshunds mount things?

I have a 3 year old female dachshund (dox-en) and sometimes she’ll start humping blankets or mine and my brothers legs. I typed in on youtube “humping female dogs” and mostly dachshund videos came up. Don’t only boy dogs do that?

No, girl dogs can do that too. It’s best to just flick her on the head when she does it so it won’t get out of hand. She’s probably in heat. Also I like how you used the word “mount” because you have tons of possibilities for something dirtier.

No, its displaying dominance over you, she is trying to establish the “pack leader” role. You need to show her that you are in charge, not her, because dominance can lead to fear, agression, anxiety and many other behavioural problems. You need to make sure that she gets the right amount of exercise, and that you discipline (NOT punish) her in an appropriate way. I reccommend that you read one of Cesar Milan’s books, or watch his show on TV. I think that you would find it very useful.
