Why as a one time convicted felon can I find employment?

I was convicted in 2004 with a drug felony charge. The sad part of it is I had never been in any trouble before nor since then. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I even have an affidavit from my attorney signed by my co-defendant that I had no knowledge of what she was doing at the time of our arrest. Since then I have not been able to get a job. I am 32 years old and I have two children that are growing up faster and faster everyday. My children are 13 and 9. I don’t feel they have to pay for my mistakes of being in the company of the wrong people. All I want is to have some stability to send my daughter to college. I have taken a certification course in business and can’t utilize it because of this felony. I am also a poetry and short story writer. I also have detention experience which I would like to get back into to help and show people the innocent can also be placed in a bad situation. If you are hiring in Jacksonville, Fl. or know something or someone whom can help please contact me. all I need is a chance to prove that I am a responsible, professional with determination and goals. Thank you for listening. God Bless!!!

have you considered doing any online work at all? I’m not suggesting this as a full time position but there are lots of opportunities for people interested in making a good secondary income on a part time basis. If you would like to fun mail me I could give you some suggestions and some links to explore.

Good luck! .

Most felons can find blue collar jobs. If you dont mind actually working up a sweat and not being in an office.

Try Contruction Jobs, Plants, Oil Fields, etc. Almost all of them are willing to hire felon’s, especially if it’s just drug chages.

Do you have a parole officer you could talk to? a lot of them are willing to help also.

On top of all of the noble suggestions above, if as you say you have documentation that you were not aware of the crime, you might want to apply for a pardon. It couldn’t hurt. Otherwise yeah, manufacturing, oilfield since 9-11 is pretty tough but you can get on with some of the contracting companies that do scaffolding and welding, or if you’re tech savvy and can learn it there is a geo-positioning attendant on all dive boats, he basically figures out where everything is underwater. He would be in my experience the only white collar type in the field other than perhaps the engineers.

There are jobs. Just not for you.
