Why are myspace layouts so popular?
I’ve never been a huge myspace fan, and I’d like to know why are myspace layouts so popular? It seems kind of simple, really, you give people an example layout & then they use it to customize their own page. Should we allow people to customize their own FunAdvice page that way? What do you think?
People like to customize things. This is an urge that all of humanity has and can only be sated by new and very scalable platforms.
I think that people might not answer this question for confusion at the comparison to myspace. Myspace means different things to different people. Funadvice is a social QA site and people can’t make “webpages” like myspace that are used for a hundred different purposes. Here they would be used to establish a presence, download pictures, show content that the users have added, or possibly give users a place to show their favorite questions (which I think might be a really good thing and possibly change the view of the “top 10” categories).
