why are my 10 year old dogs eyes going cloudy ?

this is going to suck shes also loseing her hearing and she nos her deaf hand singleds she leared them at 8 years old I’ve been training ever since

The dog has cataracts, just as you suspected. These do not hurt, and dogs…being dogs, use their noses far more than their eyes. The loss of sight is so gradual, that years can pass before you even notice that they can’t see any longer.

dont be fooled by hybreds to purebred, many crossbreeds can be fooled, our lab, is a blood hound x Lab, and it fooled the vet, hes 84% lab. And it’s good to be wise with animals, lots of people are not animal wise.

like I said I no a lot about dogs cats snakes horses right off the bat I can tell a dog breed purebred or mutt I watch animal cops and vet shows all the time my mom gets mad at me -.- like I said my dogmight have cateracts

it does somtimes suck yes, but the same thing happend to our old dog, she was going blind, she was completly deaf, and she was 19 years old, when your dog gets to an older age, they depend on you more then ever.

yes, I work at my local vet clinic to, but, mine is an equine vet’s office, but they do get dogs in the other half, and this older lady came in crying and she told the vet what was wrong, and he told that it was comman, and its just age and even when dogs get cloudy eyes, they still have lots of life and pup left in them :)

as dogs get older they start to go blind sadly, its comman in older dogs, and there is no treatment to stop this. It doesnt effect them or hurt them but its a bit of a challange, as where the cloudy parts are, they can’t see there anymore

Yes what this girl said is exactly right I used to volunteer for a vet clinic and several dogs normal between the ages 10 to 13 start to get cloudness in their eyes…The owners would come into the vets and the vet would tell them calm down the dog is not being harmed your just going to have to take extra care when she walking around the house until she gets used to it.
