What does it even mean to say a word is ‘bad’. A word is simply a bunch of symbols we’ve put together and ascribed meaning too. The problem is this word is loaded because of the meanings we’ve ascribed to it and the way people have used it in the past and continue to use it. It is not ok for someone who is outside of the group to use the word. It is one thing for an African American, or Lil Wayne to use it, it is another for someone who is not within this group to use it because there is no way to for the group to know for sure with what intentions it is being used. Bottom line is, it is a word that is used to demean an entire ethnic group that for a long time was an extremely oppressed minority. So, a little context. People are touchy because racism is still alive and well, so how about we try and not minimize an entire ethnic group’s experiences?

Lets take a look at the definition of the ‘’n’’ word: (ethnic slur) extremely offensive name for a Black person; “only a Black can call another Black a *

The definition itself tells you just how crude the word is. You wouldn’t go up to a stranger and call them that would you? I doubt it. Then again, thats how the old slave days where. I doubt slaves where ever referred to by their names. Either way, some friends use it in a playful manner to signify a companion. Others use it to joke around about something.

The word really depends on context, nowadays the word isn’t as agressive as it used to be. It’s usually the racist person that makes the word terrible. When it comes to friends though, I think its safe to say that they know you don’t mean anything by it. When it comes to strangers, then that can get pretty touchy. I would stick to referring only people that you know really well as that, other then that, I wouldn’t use it. That’s just me though.

Depending on the context, how you use the word, and what you meant by it would make all the difference to how someone actually takes the word.

Answer #4

I say that word some people are like omg you can’t say that and other’s are fine with it but you can’t say fuck to some people so ya know depends who you’re saying it to.

Answer #5

There are no bad words. Words are completely neutral. What makes them bad is the context in which they are used. For example if I were to say “Eddie Murphy is a nig#er,” there would be nothing wrong with that. However saying “All nig#ers are stupid,” would obviously be inappropriate to say the least.

Answer #6

its not bad. my favorite rapper ever (lil wayne) calles himself and everyone ‘nigguhs’ if thats what you mean.. and its fine. theres a girl in my school that freaks out but we dont even think of her as that. its not even bad to me, at all…

Answer #7

well different people think different ways I think that calling them black is ok b/c you are saying what they look like but some people find that offensive

Answer #8

Im a bit torn with it b/c some people call themself it but if others call them it they get offended then why call yourself it right? my sister is quater-cast but these days you have to call it mixed race but I call her a nier and she calls me white trash we dont see problems with it… thats just like people from pakistan isnt it really when you say pI some of them get offended but its only shortened isnt it… people see things different ways but if your close and open then I guess it is ok

Answer #9
