Where are you pursuing happiness?

Where and how we pursue happiness is crucial, even vital. Some find it in God, some in circumstances, some in drugs, and some just live each day the best way they know how. When answering this, look deep in your heart honestly and truthfully. I know its personal, but its so important.

Answer #1

I really don’t try very hard to be happy. I do plan for the future to minimize future pain, but that’s about it. I’m naturally pretty content as long as neither I nor those I care about are suffering.

Answer #2

I’m one of those people, like Drew Barrymore, who has to work at being happy. I don’t pursue it (that doesn’t work for me–when I try that, I look outside of myself which isn’t my answer). Instead, I choose it. It takes effort to turn the negative around & be positive about life. When I’m unhappy, I list, counting on my fingers, ten things I’m grateful for. There are many, many “happiness strategies” and many, many books written on the subject. Invest in a few and learn about such things as affirmations. When I’m feeling lousy for some reason, all I have to do is say, “I’m blissfully happy right now” about 20 times in a row and somehow the mantra changes the molecular structure in my brain and it works. Affirmations do work! And so do many other techniques. Get educated through websites and literature, and get happy!

Answer #3

I just wanna add something to my previous answer:

Happiness is a very personal thing, and I think everyone find happiness in different things. I know people who say that the only time they feel happy is when they are in church (Something which is really absurd to me, because I am an ateist, and the only thing that can bring me into a church is funerals).

But I find happiness in small things. Walking in the woods, taking pictures, helping other people, creating things like music or maybe if I manage to take a good picture of something,,,

I think it’s sad that some people, (like HALOYEAH above this answar) have a hard time finding happiness.

Maybe if people lower their standards a bit, and and see the small things in life it would be more easy?

How do YOU, “saved”, find happiness? I suspect it’s got something to do with you being a christian?

Answer #4

To hellfire, yes I am a christian, and I found my source of joy in God. I try to be open minded tho, I believe you should stay true to your beliefs but not cast out anyone elses. I hate the religious attitude that relies only on ignorance. I am so glad, you found happiness, a smile seems to be contagious and those who spread it recieve it! -peace!!!

Answer #5

Serotonin…it’s a neurotransmitter within the brain that allows for happiness and a sense of well-being.

Answer #6

Its really hard for me to find happiness, im more like a pearson who is just you know never seems to find happiness. I never smile. people like to see me smile a lot becaue they say that my smile litens up people but I really dont. I ussually find it quietly when im in my room and just lestening to music whit a lot of meening and that I know its true

Answer #7

I find loads of happiness in playing music. Both on one of my instruments, (Guitar, Bass and drums) but also by listening to music.

I used to believe I could find it in Drugs. Something that lead to me being a heroin junkie for 10-15 years, but that, funnily enough didn’t work! But since I was a junkie for so long, it’s now far more easy to find happiness in small things. Actually, I’m just happy to be alive, and that I’m sober when I wake up in the morning.
