When was the telephone invented?

Answer #1

In 1876, both Alexander Graham Bell and Elisha Gray filed for a patent within weeks of each other on their parallel inventions of the telephone. As Bell got the patent, he’s generally considered the “inventor” even though it’s debatable who actually invented it first.
